Northern Railway Plans Over 6,200 Special Train Trips for Festive Season
Northern Railway plans over 6,200 special train trips for the festive season, nearly 30% more than last year. Check the key routes, including Delhi–Patna, Amritsar–Barauni and Delhi–Kamakhya, and details of 42 newly regularised trains.
According to Northern Railway, 42 new trains have been made regular this year, and these services are expected to operate around 2,600 trips during the festive period. In addition, 3,600 special train trips have already been announced to meet the growing demand for travel during the festivals.
The expanded arrangements are aimed at accommodating the increase in passenger numbers and reducing congestion on key railway routes. Northern Railway said the additional services are intended to provide passengers with convenient, comfortable and safe travel during the festive season.
Special train services will operate on several important routes, including Delhi–Patna Vande Bharat, Shakurbasti–Darbhanga, Mata Vaishno Devi–Varanasi, Chandigarh–Patna, Anand Vihar–Patliputra and New Delhi–Howrah. These routes form part of the railway's broader arrangements to manage passenger demand during the festive period.
Additional services will also be available on the Kolkata–Yog Nagari Rishikesh, Amritsar–Barauni, New Delhi–Danapur, Delhi–Kamakhya, Delhi–Gaya and Amritsar–Jaynagar routes, among others.
The railway expects the additional train trips and the regularisation of new services to help passengers reach their destinations more conveniently during the festive rush. The planned increase in services represents an expansion from last year's 4,666 trips to more than 6,200 trips this year, while the 42 newly regularised trains are expected to contribute around 2,600 trips during the festive period.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest information on train timings, stoppages, availability and operational updates through official railway channels before beginning their journeys.
